The first mountain bike race is in the book (Syllamo's does not count) and it was a great one! I highly recommend peeps put this as a must do race next year. Columbia is a short drive for KC area, St Louis and even the Iowa folks showed some color today.Rain lightly hit the trails early in the morning so the first racers got a little muddy and the trails were slick. Not sure what it is about mud that brings out a playful and curious aspect of our personalities? Generally speaking when its below freezing, 20 mile an hour winds, some snow and wet sloppy ground we tend to stay indoors and mind our beer and TV. Weaving through the "Spin Zone" Last Sunday was the Kansas Cyclocross Championship at St. Marys University in Leavenworth KS. Saturday brought us another stellar day for Cyclocross racing! Weather was foggy in the morning, but it burnt off by noon and left us with temps higher then what would be expected for November 1st. First Cyclocross race was this weekend at So Kor park in Lenexa. The turn out was huge! I place 19th out 60 riders, not bad for the first race and being overweight.

Reece and I went to the airshow this weekend with John and Kim Moffit, their two kids and some friends. Dead legs were a plenty at tonight's crit race; Mark, Cameron, Kyle and I all had trouble with the pace. I popped after 17 minutes and never really recovered, Kyle was in and out. The ride home was in a strong head wind, but luckily we were motivated by the beer at the end of the rainbow. Big day out at SM Park for the first mountain bike race at the park EVER! Finally the horse people are getting the boot and trail enthusiast can use the land.The race started off fast with a 200 yard run and then mount the bike.
